Welcome to The Fireplace

‘The Fireplace’ is an open group for those in the Australian arts and entertainment industries desiring to follow Jesus.

Find us on Facebook.

A fireplace is a central point for people to gather – for light, for warmth and for storytelling. The fire itself blazes, burns and refines.

In our industries, believers often remain invisible, and in many cases, discouraged. Many of us know God has called us here – but the mountain can seem impossible to scale. Some of us are fighting to get work. Others are fighting to maintain their walk of faith within their work. We try to resist idolatry, but aren’t sure how to partner success with the radical call to take up our cross.
It is a paradoxical, and deeply mysterious pursuit, but we are not alone.

Our prayer is that we can gather online and in person – to connect, network and inspire one another – bringing light to our many varied workplaces, and the hope of Christ to our artistic pursuits.

‘They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.’ Isaiah 61:3

‘The law of his God is in his heart, his feet do not slip.’ Psalm 37:31

As a leadership team, our experience has been that when we have actively sought out and connected with other believers in our workplaces, our spirits have been lifted. The support is invaluable.
We’d like to encourage everyone to introduce themselves, and share prayer requests, questions, revelations, testimonies.
We also have a place to post creative opportunities and info about our work, called ‘The Fireplace – Noticeboard’.

Once a month, we meet up to worship, pray and encourage one another in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. We post dates, times and locations in events on the page.

Our leadership team includes:
Melbourne: Anna Weir, John Englezos, Jonathan Weir, Kane Lach, Beth Hanlon, Adam Cetrangolo
Sydney: Charlotte Salusinszky.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions, and please read the pinned post at the top of this community group, as we have strict rules.
